Who can apply

Writers or writer-directors with French or EU nationality (or a listed partner country), or residents of France. The film must be shot wholly or mainly in French or a regional language of France. The writing grant is for writers with no producer attached; the rewriting grant also accepts a feature production company. First-feature writers need qualifying credits (for example two shorts selected at category 1 festivals, or broadcast TV fiction). The second college is for writers with at least one produced feature.

Prizes

Writing grant of up to EUR 30,000 per project (at most EUR 20,000 for any one author). Rewriting grant of up to EUR 21,000 per project (at most EUR 9,000 per author). Both are paid in two halves, the second after the new draft is reviewed.

What it gives besides money

Shortlisted writers are heard by the commission in a second round. The grant can pay for a co-writer or script consultant.
