Who can apply

Individual writers only: no writing teams and no enrolled students, and no parallel training program. Both story ideas must be at an early stage, with no first draft, not optioned, not entered in a competition, not under review by a funder and never publicly pitched. One reapplication is allowed. AI may not be used in the application. Applicants from Austria apply to the Munich-Styria branch instead.

Prizes

Participants who can show the program keeps them from their usual work can apply for a living allowance of EUR 500 a month for ten months (September 2027 to June 2028).

Length

Descriptions of two story ideas in at most 10 standard pages, plus a key scene for one of them on pages 11 and 12 (a standard page is at most 30 lines of about 60 characters)

What it gives besides money

A year of seven meetings with one-to-one mentoring toward a ready-to-shoot feature script, or a seat in a writers' room developing a professional head writer's series idea. Two days of pitch training lead into the final presentation at Filmfest München.
