Who can apply

Authors only, as private persons; producers and writers' own companies cannot apply. Applicants need a home or business address in Germany (or an establishment in Germany if based elsewhere in the EU or EEA) and at least one of: a produced and released feature, series or documentary treatment; a novel, play or other long work published outside self-publishing; a nomination or award for a short or feature script at a significant prize; or a producer with a released feature or series who intends to film the project. Films must run at least 79 minutes (children's films 59).

Prizes

Treatment funding of up to EUR 15,000, plus up to EUR 2,500 for consulting. Script funding of up to EUR 40,000 in two phases (up to EUR 20,000 for a first draft), up to EUR 50,000 for demanding animation, plus up to EUR 10,000 for dramaturgy, sensitivity reading or script circles. The money is a non-repayable living grant, separate from any writer's fee.
