Basic Course in the Art of Screenwriting (Online and Weekend)
Run by Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Centre for Open Learning
On weekends from mid December to mid February, FTII's Centre for Open Learning teaches screenwriting online in English and Hindi, led by Hindi film writer Vikas Sharma. It suits beginners aged 16 or more, in India or abroad. Each participant finishes a short script of 10 to 15 minutes and the story for a feature.

- Anyone 16 or older on 1 December 2026 who has passed the 10th standard (SSC), confirmed by self-declaration on the form. Applicants in India and abroad may both apply, at different fees.

- No script is sent. Apply on the online form and pay through SBI Collect at the same time. Places are filled in order of application, and applicants who are not selected get their fee back.

What it gives besides money
Saturday and Sunday classes of four hours a day on Google Classroom and Google Meet, where each participant also pitches a story concept to the mentor and the group for feedback. The class is capped at 23, with two seats held for the previous batch, and runs only if at least 20 enroll.
