IMCINE's yearly support for Indigenous and Afro-descendant filmmakers from Mexico and Central America starts at the writing stage: Stage 1 backs research and writing or rewriting a feature script, treatment or outline in any genre with up to MXN 90,000, a mentor and a residency. The 2027 call closes October 22 at 5 p.m.

- Who can apply
- People aged 18 or over from Mexico or Central America who self-identify as Indigenous or Afro-descendant under Article 2 of the Mexican Constitution. Collectives apply through one responsible member who meets that rule; others may join the team. Companies and civil associations cannot apply.
- Prizes
- Stage 1 (development of a feature) pays up to MXN 90,000. Later stages pay up to MXN 450,000 for a short or MXN 1,200,000 for a feature in production, up to MXN 850,000 for continuing a feature, and up to MXN 300,000 or MXN 950,000 for finishing a short or feature.

- Stage 1 also asks for a 3 to 10 minute video introducing yourself, your community and the project (Indigenous-language videos need Spanish subtitles), a one-line premise, a short synopsis, a story outline (a scene outline for documentaries), the official summary and budget forms, ID and a self-identification letter.
