Who can apply

Students of film courses, schools or academies in Italy who are 30 or younger on 31 October 2026. Their school puts them forward with a one-page story idea per student. Two writers under 25 who are not film students may apply on their own through FilmFreeway for out-of-competition places.

Prizes

A jury of film professionals picks the best script, which the festival and MitrArtProduction then produce as a short during the 2027 edition. A best story idea award brings a plaque and a direct place in the 2027 Spazio Film, and there are audience and youth jury plaques. The two out-of-competition under-25 writers can win an internship on a later production.

What to send

Length

Story idea of one page (1,800 characters); the script written at the residency runs 5 pages at most

Also asked for

Schools apply by email to [email protected]. Those selected are named by 15 November 2026 and must send the signed rules, an application form, ID and a CV by 30 November 2026. Residency scripts take the 2026 theme, La Banda, are set around Santa Maria Capua Vetere and run 10 minutes at most.

Need your pages in standard screenplay format first? The free screenplay formatter lays them out and saves a PDF.

What it gives besides money

Selected writers are housed in the town for the 7 to 11 December writing residency, with masterclasses; travel is at their own cost. The festival and MitrArtProduction keep first option on every story and script written there.
